Description

Steveston Stock and Seed Farm was established in 1877 and we were the first seedsmen on Canada's West Coast. We produce organically grown heirloom seeds listed in our 1889 and 1890 seed catalogues. The seed is distributed primarily through the Seed Savers Exchange. We grow heirloom apple varieties on dwarf rootstock so local gardeners can have apples from their own trees 10 months of the year. We also raise relatively rare Belted Galloway Cattle and sell purebred breeding stock and natural beef locally. Our livestock production is organic except for feeding spent malting barley that we re-cycle from two local micro-breweries. Our one festive event is when we open up our farm the last week of September and first week of October every year to give away our accumulated manure pile to local gardeners.
