Description
We are an organic but as yet uncertified sustainable farm in the pastoral country of Northern Idaho. We sell various organic produce (fruits, vegetables, and flowers) and soon to be organic pastured eggs(chicken and duck) supplemented with homegrown grains and garden waste. We are a member of Community Alliance with Family Farms, and hope to be certified soon by The Food Alliance or Oregon Tilth. We have an on-site produce stand open during the summer. Shortly, we hope to carry more products on our farm. Some of our favorite "farm animals" are beneficial insects such as bees, ladybugs, hoverflies, and praying mantises. We plant flowers and aromatic plants such as dill, marigold, chervil, and buckwheat to attract these little helpers and provide habitat for them, winter, summer, spring, and fall. With colony collapse disorder significantly cutting down the bee population, we also try to encourage native pollinators. Butterflies, native bees such as bumblebees, and other already existent pollinators could significantly reduce the pressure on honeybees. We want to make our farm as diverse and lively as possible. If you have any suggestions on how to do this, please email us.
